#1 Bali Tree Top Adventures
What’s not to love about zipping through tree to tree and discovering a bird’s eye view of the beautiful natural surroundings of Bedugul? The park is accessible to all levels of agility and experiences with circuits designed for participants as young as 4-year-olds to adults. So you (and even the grandparents) can join in on the fun too. Now that’s what we call a fun FAMILY activity!
There’s something insanely fun and addictive about bouncing around on a trampoline even as adults. And when it’s not just one trampoline, but a roomful of trampolines specially designed with spring loaded frames that allow you to bounce higher, you know you and your kids can literally flip out! Definitely one fun family activity not to miss when you’re in Canggu.
#3 Bali Equestrian Centre
Another one of the lesser known yet fun family activities in Canggu. Get your kids to try their introduction to horse riding Pony Ride class and watch how they instantly bond with the graceful four-legged creatures. It won’t be long ’till they’re pestering you to take the optional grooming classes or get listed on next the Pony Camp. And of course they will want to celebrate their next birthday here with a Pony Party. Sorry for turning your kids into Pony-maniacs, don’t say we didn’t warn you. But hey, who says it’s not fun for parents to have some peaceful time lounging around sipping mocktails on the shades or catching up on that book while the equine beauties entertain the little ones? (And to answer your unspoken question, yes – adults get to ride too. You’re welcome.)
#4 Pod Chocolate Tour
Everyone loves chocolate, right? And what’s wrong with incorporating a bit of fun learning experience in your family holiday? Learn how chocolate is made as the awesome folks at Pod Chocolate take you and your family on the journey of the cocoa pod as it receives the ultimate makeover into delicious chocolate products as you know it. The tour includes a return transport to/ from your hotel, entry to Pod Chocolate @ Bali Elephant Camp, ‘Chocolate Shot’ welcome drink, lots of tasting (raw cocoa fruit, roasted beans and lots of chocolate), and chocolate making (14 chocolate elephants for you to take home as a memento). You can also opt for the additional package that includes a lunch at their cafe, amazing home-made ice cream, and an adventurous elephant trekking (your kids will love you for this!). How’s that for a fun family activity?
#5 Family Green Adventures at Green Camp
Kids nowadays don’t get enough time to interact with nature. While we envy families living in Bali for being able to send their kids to the awesome Green School, it’s such a great news that now they have made Green Camps available for families only in Bali for the holidays. You can choose between the 3 or 5 day nature-inspired experience – we think both are awesome, so do check their updated schedule here. But even if you can only do a short visit, a tour of the amazing bamboo structures in the campus will be a memorable experience for the whole family. PS. We love this TEDtalk video by the founder.
#6 Visit Sea Turtle Hatcheries
Fun family activities became that much more meaningful when you also do good while having fun. If you’re visiting the Southern part of Bali, check with the Bali Sea Turtle Society for their updated schedule of turtle nesting and hatching on Kuta Beach. And if your itinerary takes you toward the East (the neighborhood of the hidden paradise that is Menjangan Island), be sure to stop by the Reef Seen Divers’ Resort and help them in their cause to protect these amazing creatures. For a small donation, you can visit and hear the story of the project. You can also sponsor and release a juvenile turtle (numbers permitting). Sea turtles nesting season is from March to September, while hatching season peaks around June to August each year (baby sea turtles are released the day after they hatch from their nests).
