Bali offers a myriad of attractions and you won’t want to miss a thing. While there are many ways to get around Bali, you’ll be able to maximize your vacation by booking a car reservation. This is especially true if you have kids in tow. You want every car-trip to be comfortable and fun. With a car rental, you don’t have to work your itinerary around certain rides. You (or the kids) can pick whichever attraction you want to visit first. Check out these tips for Bali car rental:
Tip 1: Choose a Reliable Rental Company
You can find a lot of car rentals through online agencies, hotel recommendations and word of mouth. If you are hiring a car for your entire vacation you will be able to negotiate a good rate. Just do some research and find the best option for your family’s needs. When you’re renting a car be sure to clarify the type of vehicle, that there is air-conditioning, and whether you need car-seats pre-fitted for your little ones.
Tip 2: Inquire About Insurance
Start by reviewing the company’s insurance policy and coverage. From there you can check your travel insurance, and whether it covers rental cars abroad.
Tip 3: Get a Driver’s Permit
Once you know the basics of your car rental provisions, you have to get a driver’s permit (if you don’t already have an international license). Go to the Foreign License Service in Denpasar. There’s no need to take a driving test. As long as you present your passport and your driver’s license, you can obtain an Indonesian driver’s permit for about 110,000 IDR (approx. US $15), valid for one month.
Tip 4: Get a Driver
If say, you can’t get a driver’s permit but you still want to get a car during your stay, hire a car and driver. Getting your own chauffeur is surprisingly affordable in Bali. Bali traffic is notorious for being chaotic, so some visitors prefer this option anyways. If hiring a car and driver isn’t possible, you can ask your travel agent or the hotel desk for pickup services.
