The show’s premise is about a boy and a girl who broke away from their tour group only to stumble across a magical treasure chest filled with important cultural objects. Each object tells a different story of the Indonesian archipelago hence the show’s title, “Treasure of the Archipelago.” As the story flows, the audience is taken on a wild ride through heritage of Bali, Sumatra, Java, Borneo and Papua.
The two actors, Deva and Dhana, narrate the show, as they discover one item to another. The items range from an elaborate udeng headwear from Bali, angklung bamboo instrument from Java and the tribal weapons from Kalimantan. Essentially, every discovered object serves as a lead-in to a magical tour of the Indonesian landscape, presenting the cultural diversity of the country in an entertaining dance and acrobatic show.
Apart from the amazing costumes and the choreography, gigantic puppets, elaborate Sumatran houses as well as life-sized Joglo houses from Java are presented together with amazing special effects including fireballs, artificial rain, illusions and lighting as well as a rotating stage.
The finale brings back the two main characters with a bang! Deva and Dhana enter the stage suspended into the air wrapped in colorful silk! At the end of the show, you can have your picture taken with the whole cast in full costumes!
