Sanur is a great family-friendly town with a relaxed vibe, and thankfully now, a ton of fabulous places to eat! From traditional Indonesian and Balinese meals, to world-class Italian and healthy clean-eating restaurants, there is something to eat for everyone! Here are our 10 favorite restaurants in Sanur:
#1 Maya’s Coffee & Smoothie Bar
Maya’s is a laid back cafe on the road to Sindhu Beach in Sanur. They are best known for their smoothies and excellent coffee, but are also great for breakfast and light lunches and dinners. Kids are totally welcome and well taken care of with a menu of pastas, sandwiches, pancakes, waffles, eggs any way and fabulous milkshake concoctions!

#2 Sand Beach Club & Restaurant
Sand is, as it’s name suggests, right on the beach. There are inside tables and a bar, but the best ones really are the tables where the kiddos dig and build in the sand right next to you. I’m not sure if I’d call Sand a beach club, but it is a great place to hang out with the family as it has a good kids menu, big tables and showers and changing rooms.

In the evening the barbecue gets fired up and you can dine on fresh fish and other seafood with the luxury of the cooling Sanur breezes. Pastas and salads are also great options and for picky little eaters the chefs are happy to adjust meals to their tastes.
For those looking for clean eating goodness, Zula is the spot! Part of the Down to Earth chain, Zula offers organic vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and raw options for breakfast lunch and dinner. This may not sound so child-friendly, but there are some fabulous kids options that even my very suspicious-of-healthy-food son devours.

Fresh juices, delicious baked goods, burritos, pita sandwiches and other goodies are just the ticket on a hot day when you don’t feel like anything heavy.

From colorful smoothie bowls, burgers, sandwiches, salads and brunch plates, everything tastes vibrant and fresh. Portion sizes may not be huge, but the flavors certainly are! Soul in a Bowl will soon also have a beach location!
#5 Warung Kecil
Kecil means small in Indonesian language, and Warung Kecil is just that. However, it punches way above its weight when it comes to taste! Offering a menu healthy Indonesian and Balinese favorites like nasi campur, curry, cap cay and other dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, this restaurant is a go-to spot for locals, ex-pats and tourists.

They also serve excellent salads and sandwiches for the less adventurous kiddos, and the menu has some of the best prices you’ll find in town!
This long-established Italian eatery in Sanur has been a fave for years with just about everyone. While other restaurants have come and gone, Massimo has stayed true to its traditional Italian style food and has kept the customers coming.

The love and time that goes into their hand-made mozzarella, gelato, pasta and pizzas shows. The food is incredibly tasty, authentic and extremely family and group friendly.
#7 The Porch
Serving up a hearty menu of comfort foods, The Porch is an excellent spot for picky eaters. You can’t go wrong with mac and cheese, toasted sandwiches and homemade pies, can you? The inside area is always nice and cool thanks to the air-con and the outside seating is shady. For the adults, the coffee is excellent and there is also fast wi-fi if you need to check your emails.
See The Porch Café in our directory.
#8 Warung Little Bird
If you’re looking for a great meal at an even more fantastic price, don’t walk by Warung Little Bird. You’ll find a menu of local dishes including faves like nasi campur, nasi goreng, mie goreng, satay and gado-gado as well as sandwiches, shakes, cake and coffee.

The atmosphere is very relaxed at Warung Little Bird, which is great for families, and there is also live acoustic music every evening. A great hang-out spot and a definite go-to for great, cheap food in Sanur!
If you want something other than Indonesian fare for a little change, or just love Mexican food, Jalapeno is a funky little restaurant you won’t want to miss. Colourful decor and plenty of less-spicy options are great for the kids. And for dessert…churros of course! Yum!

#10 Genius Cafe
On the beach in front of the Mercure resort is the beautiful Genius Cafe and co-working space. This place is super kid-friendly and has incredible food. It’s not the cheapest restaurant in Sanur, but the portions are big. My kids shared a fish and chips and had leftovers. You can also watch the kids play on the beach and on Sundays there are often kids activities.
